- dalla rivista brasiliana 'SET', agosto 2006, intervista a Michael Mann a riguardo del film 'Miami Vice': "Non e' stato il film, ma la prestazione di Colin Farrell ad attirare la mia attenzione", ricorda Mann. "E' il modo di pronunciare una frase, di reagire ad un dialogo. Ho parlato con Russell Crowe per un ora e 45 minuti, leggendo la sceneggiatura di 'The Insider', e non accadeva nulla. All'improvviso lui ha letto una frase dal copione, poi un'altra e ad un tratto era diventato Jeffrey Wigand". (Grazie Ivani!)

Michael´s commentary about Russell, during his “interview” to promote Miami Vice to Roberto Sadovski for Brazilian SET magazine, August edition: “It was not the movie, but Colin Farrell´s performance that called me the attention”, remembers Mann. “It´s the way of speaking a phrase, of reacting to a dialogue. I talked to Russell Crowe for an hour and 45 minutes, reading The Insider´s script, and nothing happened. Suddenly, he read a phrase from the script, then another one and suddenly he was Jeffrey Wigand”.

I due protagonisti del remake di Quel treno per Yuma, film del 1957 con Glenn Ford, dal titolo 3:10 to Yuma, saranno Christian Bale e Russell Crowe.
In un primo tempo si era fatto con insistenza anche il nome di Tom Cruise, che ora pare in trattative per una commedia sentimentale e un film di guerra diretto da Michael Mann.
"3:10 to Yuma" sarà diretto da James Mangold, che ha recentemente filmato "Walk the Line - Quando l'amore brucia l'anima", il biopic su Johnny Cash.
Il film, ispirato a un racconto di Elmore Leonard, vede fronteggiarsi un ranchero e un fuorilegge. Il ranchero dovrà scortare l'uomo alla prigione: ma non sarà un viaggio semplice. Crowe avrà il ruolo che fu di Glenn Ford, mentre Bale sarà il fuorilegge.

Christian Bale affiancherà Russell Crowe nel prossimo film di James Mangold, che ha recentemente filmato il biopic su Johnny Cash, QUANDO L'AMORE BRUCIA L'ANIMA. Si tratta di 3:10 TO YUMA, ed è il remake di un lungometrggio del 1957 con Glenn Ford, basato su un racconto di Elmore Leonard, che vedeva fronteggiarsi un ranchero e un fuorilegge, con il primo incaricato di consegnare il secondo alle autorità. Crowe avrà il ruolo che fu di Glenn Ford, ed è notizia di oggi che sarà Christian Bale ad interpretare il proprietario terriero dalla parte della legge.  
(ndw: confido che per l'inizio delle riprese si saranno messi d'accordo se Russell avra' la parte del cattivo o del buono... :D)

L'attore con Crowe in un remake western. Poi il sequel di Batman e intanto The Prestige e il biopic su Dylan

Christian Bale in cappellaccio e fondina contro il duro Russell Crowe. Questo lo scenario che si profila per Quel treno per Yuma, soffertissimo remake dell'omonimo western del 1957 con Glenn Ford, in cantiere per il prossimo autunno. Il film, abbandonato dalla Sony dopo un infruttuoso interessamento di ben quattro anni, aveva attirato anche le attenzioni di Tom Cruise ed Eric Bana. Fallito il tentativo di ottenere il sostegno di una major, il regista del premio Oscar Walk the Line si è risolto con la moglie e produttrice Cathy Conrad ad affidarlo all'indipendente Relativity Media. Bale, sugli schermi Usa dal 20 ottobre col film The Prestige, interpreterà nel frattempo I'm not There, la corale biografia di Bob Dylan diretta da Todd Haynes. In primavera l'attore sarà poi impegnato nelle riprese di The Dark Knight, sequel del Batman Begins interpretato nel 2005 per Christopher Nolan. (Grazie Maddalena!)

Christian Bale is close to a deal to star opposite Russell Crowe in James Mangold's "3:10 to Yuma." Relativity Media is stepping in to finance the film, which has been without a home since Columbia Pictures put it into turnaround earlier this summer.
The move is certain to give Mangold a sigh of relief as the Western remake is taking a tortuous journey to the screen. Columbia spent four years developing the film, which it had hoped to start filming this summer. 
Tom Cruise had been circling the film for his follow-up to "Mission: Impossible III," with Eric Bana rumored to be in pursuit of a role as well.
But by June, Cruise and Bana were no longer in the mix, and Columbia put "Yuma" in turnaround, leaving producer Cathy Konrad and Mangold to shop the project to various studios. 
Fox 2000 was believed to be the front-runner based on Konrad and Mangold's relationship with topper Elizabeth Gabler, who championed their "Walk the Line."
Now, Relativity plans to finance the film, either in whole or in part, and is currently in negotiations with Columbia. Relativity has not yet lined up a distributor.
Relativity sees the movie as a one-off project, separate from its other business with Sony, Columbia's parent company. In May, Relativity sank $385 million into 11 Columbia films, a move that came on the heels of its investment of $400 million in January into the production costs of an additional 11 of the studio's films.
"Yuma" is based on the 1957 film that starred Glenn Ford as captured outlaw Ben Wade, who finds himself in the custody of small-time rancher Dan Evans. The rancher is secretly trying to take the outlaw to a railway station to catch a train to Yuma for the outlaw's court date. A battle of wills ensues. 
Mangold's take sees Crowe as the outlaw and Bale as the rancher. Michael Brandt, Derek Haas and Stuart Beattie have all contributed to the screenplay.
The movie is on track for a fall shoot, after the Endeavor-repped Bale films "I'm Not There," Todd Haynes' fractured Bob Dylan biopic. After "Yuma," Bale, who has "The Prestige" opening Oct. 20, will then segue to his "Batman Begins" sequel, "The Dark Knight," which is scheduled to start shooting in late winter or spring.
